Pokukrom West

On September 16, 2010, Pelangio announced a second discovery on the Manfo Property at Pokukrom West, where drilling intersected near-surface, high-grade results on the first two holes at the Pokukrom West target including 8.0 g/t gold over 12 metres in SPDD-083 and 8.6 g/t gold over 12 metres in SPDD-084.  Follow-up drilling continues to define a high-grade zone on a strike of over 100 metres that is open at depth.

Significant intersections encountered at the target to date are as follows:

  1. Intervals are core length. The true widths of intersections drilled at azimuth 117° and -45° dip are estimated to be 70-75% of core length, while intersections drilled at azimuth 297° and -45° dip are estimated to be approximately true width.
  2. 19.54 g/t over 9 metres if high-grade intervals are cut to 30 g/t.
  3. Abandoned at 51.5 metres due to poor drilling conditions.
  4. 2.84 g/t gold if higher grade assays cut to 30 g/t.
  5. 5.50 g/t gold if higher grade assays cut to 30 g/t.

The Pokukrom West target is approximately five kilometres northeast of the Nfante West target. Drilling at Pokukrom West encountered saprolite from surface to depths of up to 35 metres and a transitional oxidized zone between approximately 40-50 metres depth. Below the saprolite and transitional oxidized zone, drilling encountered quartz-pyrite-sericite schists with quartz-pyrite veinlets.  Gold mineralization is hosted in sericite altered granitoid with 1-3% pyrite, in what is interpreted as a steep east-dipping, northeasterly striking shear zone.

SPDD-083 and -084 intersected a high grade zone of mineralization on section 49450.  The holes were scissored at azimuth 117° and azimuth 297°, respectively, to test the dip of the mineralization at the anomaly. SPDD-091 and -132 were drilled as 50-metre step-backs from each of these holes to test the mineralization at depth.

Holes SPDD-090 and -092 at Pokukrom West were spotted as 50-metre step-outs to the south of holes SPDD-083 and -084 on section 49400. SPDD-092 was collared approximately nine metres from -090 after -090 was abandoned due to poor drilling conditions.  Drilling below these holes (SPDD-116 and -117) intersected anomalous mineralization, which may represent the periphery of the northeasterly plunging zone.

SPDD-130 and -131 were drilled on section 49500 to test the northerly strike and plunge of the zone. Both holes intersected a significant zone of high grade mineralization.  Importantly, SPDD-131 was the deepest intersection of the high grade zone to date and was made in fresh, or unoxidized, rock, indicating the potential for a significant high grade zone at the target.  SPDD-136 and -139 confirmed the steep east-dip of the high-grade zone, which remains open at depth.
SPDD-138 was drilled on section 49550 and intersected a zone of moderate grade gold mineralization from surface (1.12 g/t gold over 23 metres including 2.53 g/t gold over 7 metres) that was not intersected by SPDD-140 and -141 at depth.
